Nursing – Committed to Excellence

The nurses who care for you and your baby at VCU Medical Center are part of an elite health care team, whose professionalism and high-quality care have been nationally recognized.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center has designated VCU Medical Center a Magnet Recognition Program®, an honor currently awarded to only 7 percent of hospitals in the country.

Magnet designation recognizes excellence in 60 rigorous standards of nursing practice, including patient care results, planning, leadership, innovation and research. This prestigious designation attracts best-in-class nurses committed to providing outstanding care.

Our nurses enjoy a vibrant workplace and are encouraged to be lifelong learners. More than 77 percent of our nurses in the Labor and Delivery and Mother-Infant units have earned specialty certifications. This means that they have continued their education to provide the most innovative and attentive care for you and your baby.
